(No, not that Jobs…)

You might have seen the headlines this morning. The jobs report pretty much confirms the badness we’ve been feeling. The jobless rate is at a 14 year high.

But charts are worth a thousand words, so here’s a handy chart of the jobs reports from the last 12 months:

Really scary times for sure! I think the more advice we can have for jobseekers, the better.

I encourage jobseekers to subscribe to my career blogs and newsletter – completely free!

I have friends and neighbors looking for work. I have co-workers and even customers asking if I know where they can work part time so that they can make ends meet.

I know of one person having a Ph.D. working as a receptionist, another with four MBAs and unable to find work for over two years. That doesn’t include may of my former MBA classmates who are looking to advance (or jobs) but everything is frozen!

If the prediction of the economy slowing even more I may be under the threat of facing layoffs.

Just yesterday there was a job fair in town. Over 8,000 people attended – there were sooo many that they were turning people away … all for just a few jobs. How sad.
