I made a note to myself last night, but I still missed this all day. Only saw it again when I was about to shut down for the night. Initial claims for unemployment, while still not very high, are definitely inching upwards…
… the Labor Department said initial claims for state unemployment insurance rose to 346,000 in the week ended Dec. 15 from a slightly upwardly revised 334,000 in the prior week, the Labor Department said. The rise in new claims nudged the four-week moving average to up to 343,000, its highest since October 2005 when they measured 358,250. The moving average, which irons out week-to-week fluctuations, was 338,750 the prior week. (Economy is Showing More Weakness- CNBC)
I’ll have more on the jobs outlook for 2008 tomorrow…
P.S. I updated my Steve Jobs photo. This is clearly a younger, suaver Steve-o which, much like the young Elvis, I prefer. Look at the naughty glint in his eye. Let’s call this the I-Mack photo.
